What is the Skedaddle? Since 2019, the Sagamore Hills Foundation has hosted the Skedaddle — a fun run held during the school day that raises funds for student, teacher, and school needs. It’s a memorable day packed with excitement and every child gets to participate!

When is the Skedaddle? This year’s Skedaddle will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd!  Save the date and come cheer on our WILDCATS!

What happens on the day of the Skedaddle?  Activate and GoFundSchools will be at Sagamore, hosting this high-energy and fun-filled event. There will be 3 Skedaddles:

  • 8:15 - 9:00am: 2nd and 3rd Grade
  • 9:00 - 9:45am: 4th and 5th Grade
  • 9:45 - 10:30am: PK/K/1st Grade

Can families come to the Skedaddle? Absolutely! We’d love to have a field full of supporters to cheer on our kids! If you can help, we’d also love to have volunteers ensure each run goes smoothly – you can sign up HERE!

What does my child need to bring to the Skedaddle? Please have your child wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. All students should bring a water bottle; we will have stations where they can refill their water bottles as needed.

How do I give to the Skedaddle? Fundraising begins September 9th. If you are a Sagamore parent, please visit www.gofundschools.com. Register your student and share their page with family and friends. If you are a donor, please ask the student’s guardian for the link to their fundraising page.

What will our donations help fund? Starting this year, the Skedaddle is THE main fundraising opportunity for our school. Your donations are critical to ensuring our Wildcats get the elementary experience they deserve. Funds will be used for needs such as: FREE after-school clubs, teacher appreciation, classroom resources and enrichment, and special events like Family Fun Night, Turkey Trot, STEM Night, and Field Day, just to name a few!

How much are we expected to raise? Our school community needs to raise at least $40,000, which breaks down to just $100 per student. That being said, the more we raise, the more enrichment, experiences, and events we can provide for our kids, teachers, and families. We’d love to shatter this goal! $150 per student would help us surpass $60,000 and allow us to dream and plan big!

Last year, we paid class dues to room parents that went towards staff lunches and gifts. How will those things be paid for this year? To ensure money is distributed equitably across grade levels, class dues are no longer collected by room parents. Foundation has line items in the budget to ensure Wonderful Wednesdays will be covered as well as staff gifts. To ensure we have the funds for these line items, we ask families to give to our official fundraising events - the Skedaddle in September and a Parent Social/Silent Auction in the Spring.

But I thought I paid class dues through MySchool Bucks at the start of the school year? We get it, this is confusing! The school collected class dues this year (something they have not previously done and different than the dues room parents used to collect), which will pay for field day shirts and field trips. This money is held by the school and does not go to the Foundation. Room parents did not and will not collect class dues; all Foundation fundraising will be through the Skedaddle and Parent Social/Silent Auction.

Will there be any other fundraisers this year? Yes! In March of 2027 the Foundation will host a Parent Social and Spring Auction, which is an adults only party with many great items and priceless experiences to bid on. All proceeds go directly to the Foundation! While the Auction provides a much needed boost to our resources in the Spring, the Skedaddle is our most important fundraiser.

Some of our family members would prefer to send in cash or checks. How can we ensure their gifts are credited to the classroom? No problem! Please deliver all checks and cash to school in a sealed envelope. Please label the envelope with “Skeddaddle Donation” and the name of your child, their homeroom teacher, and their grade level. Labeling your envelope ensures your child gets credit for the donation!

What if our family member forgets to include the homeroom on the check. Will their class get credit? We will do our best to match every donation with the correct child. Please help us by ensuring they write the child’s name in the memo line and labeling the envelope as outlined above.

Will I get a donation receipt? Donations made through the online platform are completed through Stripe Checkout using the email address you enter. GoFundSchools will email a donation receipt after Stripe confirms the payment. The Foundation will provide donation receipts for checks and cash donations submitted to the school.

What kind of prizes does my child receive for raising money? Our school has put together a fun line-up of rewards! On your child’s fundraising page you will see the rewards children receive when their class, grade level, and the entire school hit certain goals. Most of these rewards are experiences where they will be making fun memories with their friends.

What do I receive for donating? We are so grateful for every dollar raised! As a thank you to donors who give, we have unique “Swagamore” for donor levels. Please click HERE for details!

My employer will match my donation. How do I get that donation to the school?

If your employer offers matching gifts, you will need to provide your employer with a copy of your donation receipt along with the Sagamore Hills Foundation EIN: #81-1523772 and address: 1865 Alderbrook Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. Most employers will provide a confirmation receipt of what they will match. Forward that email to  treasurer@sagamorehillsfoundation.org. Include the child’s name and homeroom teacher in the email. If you do not get a confirmation email from your employer, we will add the donation to our fundraising totals once the funds are received at the school.

How much of my donation goes back to the school? Your entire donation comes back to SHES! Our partnership with the platform is paid separately and is almost entirely covered by our generous event sponsors (Clinebell + Anderson Orthodontics, North Atlanta Professional Prep, and Tikiz ATL). The platform will only retain what is needed to cover any remaining credit card fees, which is why we encourage donors to use the “Cover My Processing Fees” feature embedded into the donation form online.

Where can I learn more about the platform we’re using? Please visit https://www.gofundschools.com/faq for more information!

I still have questions. Who do I contact? Please email president@sagamorehillsfoundation.org. We are here and happy to help!
